Dennis is a Chartered Accountant and certified public practitioner with the Institute of Chartered Accountant.He also holds a Masters in Taxation from Auckland University of Technology (AUT).
Dennis is formerly from South Africa where he studied accountancy at the University of South Africa and Technikon Natal. Dennis fulfilled all components of the Institute of Commercial and Financial Accountants of South Africa’s (CFA) practical training programme for full membership in 1997.
Dennis immigrated to New Zealand in 1998 and worked as a Divisional Accountant before commencing employment in 2002 with the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) as an Investigator. During his tenure at IRD he progressed through the various levels of investigator and attained the rank of Specialist Investigator. A Specialist Investigator is expected to be knowledgeable and experienced in complex tax legislation and compliance risk. He is also well versed in sophisticated investigative techniques and has developed specialist knowledge in generic risk based auditing, complex tax arrangements, fraud and evasion. With this strong foundation Dennis is able to research an issue, disseminate large volumes of information, and make well informed and pragmatic decisions.
Dennis is also an experienced mentor, trainer and coach in technical and non-technical matters which he acquired and learnt over his many years of commercial exposure. Dennis is currently a Senior Lecturer in Taxation at Auckland University of Technology (AUT).
